I'm a huge fan of Rhythm Game Soundtracks and japanese hardore edm!
this interest started in around 2018 when i found the artist Snail's House and began listening to similar artists recommended by Spotify's algorithm. discovering YUC'e and Psyqui was my first step into the realm of the more hardstyle and rhythm game oriented tracks! I even made a few of my own tracks and started the online alias Disuko which i have used to this day :3
the first song that i would consider the tipping point for my deep dive into the genre was "CAN I FRIEND YOU ON BASSBOOK? LOL" (bassline yatteru) by Camellia and Nanahira. The kawaii sounds combined with Camellia's crazy arrangement and sound design skills really piqued the interest of me and one of my friends. I started branching out into other artists in the scene, notably those from the record label Hardcore Tano*C through their multi artist compilations. Inspired by Camellia's album UUFO, I produced and released Interdimensional Ice Cream Parlor in early 2020.
While I haven't found myself listening to quite as much jcore as I used to back in high school, (pivoting a bit more towards hyperpop, punk, and dariacore) the foundations of my love for music production and expression through sound originate in listening to japanese hardcore music, so it carries a very special place in my heart and sense of self!
